ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) will be among the key organisations to participate in this week’s 2023 Global Esports Summit and Tencent Esports Annual Conference, scheduled at the World Exhibition & Convention Centre in Shenzhen, China.
Scheduled from 14-15 July and themed “Link To Future”, the summit gathers industry experts and leaders from around the world to explore new opportunities in the booming Esports industry, not only in Asia but also on a global scale.
Represented by Secretary-General Senior Colonel Dr Wandee Tosuwan as one of the speakers, APSF intends to share its experience in the organisation of Esports as one of the sports contested in last month’s 12th ASEAN Para Games Cambodia 2023, for the first time.
“On behalf of the ASEAN para sports community, we look forward to working hand in hand with the Asian and ASEAN Esports community, especially with our friends at the Asia Esports Federation (AESF) towards realising the common objective and mission of providing greater opportunities for our para-athletes and para gamers,” said Col.Wandee.
Esports was included as a demonstration sport in the biennial ASEAN Para Games in Phnom Penh with four participating nations – Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand.
The Southeast Asia Para governing body is currently promoting Esports as one of the medal sports in the ASEAN Para Games, following April’s partnership with the Asian E-Sports Federation (AESF) to further develop and promote Esports among para-athletes in Southeast Asia.
Other notable speakers include AESF president Kenneth Fok Kai-Kong, Xu Haifeng (50-meter Pistol Gold Medal Winner at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics) and Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation.
The summit also features Esports representatives from South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil and Kazakhstan who will present their cases and insights on Esports development in Asia and beyond.
